The Summer Of Sports
This summer is the summer of sports. From the Eurocup currently in play, to the Summer Olympics that will take place later this summer, everywhere you turn, you can organized, global sporting events. And the adults are watching and talking about it.
But let’s not leave the kids out of the conversation. Organized games like Eurocup or Summer Olympics are a great way to get your kids involved in learning about geography, world politics, determination and discipline through intentional family screen time, where you come together and watch the sports.
In particular, watching the Olympics together, is an opportunity to teach your children about the greatest Olympians ever, and their journey to getting on the podium through resilience, determination, discipline, strength and courage. It’s an opportunity to introduce your children to real leaders and heroes that they can look up to.
At the same time, watching the Olympics is also a great way to learn about sportsmanship - what it means to be a team player, how to lose graciously, and how to win graciously.
Lastly, watching the Olympics with your children exposes them to a myriad of different sports and sub-genres of sports. For example, within the Gymnastics category, there is Artistic Gymnastics, Balance Beam, Vault and Horizontal Bars.
In honour of the Summer 2024 Olympics, Kidnasium is also hosting an outdoor Summer Mini-Olympics class session throughout the duration of the summer. Different sports will be explored every week, allowing children to test out their skills across the spectrum. Registration for this class series is currently open.
